Priority Energy is Chicago's Leading Blower Door and Duct Testing Firm

Priority Energy has been testing homes for the Chicago Energy Conservation Code for years, inlcuding blower door and duct tests.  Additionally we have been working with local builders to design the the building's shells (think air sealing, insulation and water barriers/drainage planes), mechanical systems and ventilation systems to meet the City's energy and building codes.

While Chicago has been slow to adopt the 2015 Illinois Energy Conservation code based on the 2015 IECC code, the city is quickly trying to bring the REPs up to speed with the 2015 and the coming 2018 energy conservation codes.

There are a number of local builders who have been working hard to meet and exceed the energy codes.  One such builder is EcoDevelopment, who has Energy Star certified over 60 homes over the past 4 years, many of their homes come in beween an amazing 0.6 and 1.0 ACH50!  Not only are their homes beautiful, well designed homes; they're also extremely energy efficienct and affordable!  Keep up the great work EcoDevelopment!  Stay tuned, we will be highliting Ecodevelopment's results in a case study to be published later this year.

  • I just wanted to send this message to all you and say GREAT JOB!  We had a rough inspection today and passed for the Woodward Ave. house. The inspector told us "if every house I inspected looked like this one I would be out a job".

  • We were so impressed with the amount of information the Priority Energy technicians gave us during our ENERGY AUDIT.  If you are buying a house, I would strongly recommend having them do an energy audit on it, in addition to your usual home inspection.

  • Thanks for a super intelligent and deep seminar expertly handled by a staff which was a pleasure to be around. Lunch was superbly and subtly handled.

  • I have a two story home built in the mid seventies. Lots of temperature fluctuation between the floors. The Aeroseal process dramatically increased the air flow to the second floor. Good experience. The company was very informative, answered a lot of questions.
