Lead HERS Rater and Energy Auditor

Kurt Schorsch is Priority Energy’s Lead Energy Auditor with over twelve years of experience as a certified HERS Rater. He is also a RESNET and BPI training instructor, a RESNET Quality Assurance Delegate (QAD), and a building code specialist. Throughout his career, Kurt has helped to improve countless new and existing residential homes, multi-family properties, commercial buildings, and public works facilities. He is dedicated to solving energy efficiency and indoor air quality issues for builders and homeowners through innovative high-performance building strategies.

One of the first members of the Priority Energy team, Kurt was Rob’s original right-hand-man. In February 2020, after spending five years with a large building firm, Kurt re-joined the PE team.  As a Regional Building Science Advisor Kurt traveled extensively throughout the Southeast inspecting construction projects, teaching building science, and providing quality assurance oversight. Priority Energy is happy to utilize his extensive construction background and HERS rating knowledge.

Kurt grew up amid three generations of hard-working home builders. The grandson of Albert Schorsch Sr., who developed the Irving Park bungalow community known as “Schorsch Village”, he enjoyed growing up “in the business” and building homes with his grandfather, father and four brothers. He earned a degree in Construction Management and became the General Contractor of their Deerfield-based construction firm.

A health-conscious outdoorsman, Kurt enjoys hiking and fishing in Door County, WI at his family’s cabin. He has three daughters and is anxiously waiting for his third grandchild.  He continues to run a building development company in the north Chicago area.
