Energy Star 3.0 for Eco Development

Priority Energy Helps Another Builder Attain Energy Star 3.0

Eco Development’s SmartTech™ homes have lower operating costs and more health and comfort benefits than comparable new homes in the Chicago area thanks to efficiency and comfort experts at Priority Energy

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 31, 2012

Eco Development, the builders of SmartTech™ homes, has always been environmentally conscious, but recently, working with the energy solutions team at Priority Energy, they have added even more energy-saving features to their sleek, city dwellings. By incorporating cutting-edge products such as Aeroseal air duct sealing, Lifebreath Clean Air Furnaces and HRVs and Intellihot water heaters to their houses, they have gone a step beyond other builders in the energy efficiency category. Their trademarked SmartTech™ homes will not only be eco-friendly but they will have better indoor air quality, superior comfort and much lower operating costs than comparable new homes in the Chicago area.

Priority Energy’s HERS raters have also been working with Eco Development to certify all SmartTech homes as either Energy Star 2.5, Energy Star 3.0 and the EPA’s AirPlus rating. Eco Development is one of the only Chicago builders achieving this indoor air quality rating. Only through a combination of prescribed construction standards, such as proper insulation levels, ventilation, tight construction, sealed air ducts, and top-rated heating and cooling systems, can the homes achieve the EPA’s national rating. Priority Energy and the developers plan to certify at least 40 homes by the end of 2012, with most of them already sold.

“We are proud to be working with the conscientious builders at Eco Development, who understand that superior home comfort, healthier indoor air and energy efficiency go hand-in-hand and don’t have to cost a lot if done correctly,” says Robert Schildgen, owner and CEO of Priority Energy. “These homes, priced from $400 - $600,000 and having annual utility costs at least $500 less than comparable new homes, are a tremendous value.”

About the Efficiency Products

The Aeroseal process seals all ductwork from the inside out ensuring that conditioned air is evenly distributed to all rooms. Lifebreath Clean Air furnaces and HRVs ensure that tightly sealed homes receive fresh air at regular intervals throughout the day and night. It works in conjunction with the water heater and efficiently re-uses heated or cooled air. Another unique energy-saving piece of equipment is the Intellihot Tankless Water Heaters that learn the occupant’s water usage and provide hot water on demand instead of storing it and heating it in a tank.

This combination of cutting edge technology not only saves money and lowers emissions, but it creates an ideal home for allergy, asthma or respiratory sufferers or for anyone wishing to reduce the level of pollutants entering their living space.
